An extensive 60-day journey circling Australia has been cancelled following the tragic passing of an elderly lady who was abandoned by the vessel on a distant coastal location.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the tropical location with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the group for a pause. The ship departed without her and returned several hours later after the personnel became aware the woman was not present.

A large-scale hunt found her remains the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the event, in coordination with investigators and the state coroner.

Head of the shipping company said that passengers and personnel on the ship were told that the rest of the journey had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and prior mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he mentioned that travelers would be issued a full refund, and said the operator was working "to organize the homeward trips of the individuals via private aircraft".

Regulatory bodies also published an updated communication, and said they had "provided a notice to the Captain" preventing any new passengers from getting on the vessel.

The spokesperson said that they would visit the vessel in the Australian city upon its coming back.

The liner initially left the Australian port on the 24th of October, and was merely two days into the journey at the moment of the 80-year-old's death. The remote island was the first stop on the voyage.
